Change System/Sharing Name in Mac OS X
Want a system name other than “John Smith’s Macbook”?
Simply goto Apple -> System Preferences -> Sharing and enter in a new name.
For the Unix fluent, changing your /etc/hosts or “hostname” via CLI will not also change your “computer name”.
